Freiburg wot I last saw 40 years ago almost to the day.

Strasbourg was again excellent, IMHO the best city in Europe with so much history, architecture and it's walkable.  Well it would be if it wasn't 38^o.

Then big mistake as we went on a second 1/2 day tour where it reached 40^o

Packing and then Basel

Freiburg was very good, spent a fortune on a new cuckoo clock to replace the one we bought 40 years ago

Apparently you can spend over €2k on quite modest cuckoo clocks.  No we didn't.

Mostly organised.  Booked an all inclusive river cruise Amsterdam to Basel but then added on two days in Basel ourselves.  Thought I'd hate the organised bit but we did one last year and it worked very well and this wasn't bad.

Yes very sad but as Nick says, that's the way for most of us.  We have stuff in our homes that we really value and likely cost too but once we're gone nobody wants 99.99% of it.

I have my grandmother's copper kettle, the wall barometer my Mum and Dad loved and the little Spurs sort of shrine I got her and that's enough.
