My next will be a Mac  angel1

My five penny worth
They are NOT all they are cracked up to be ~ they do go wrong, they do get bugs, virus etc and they cost a fvck of a lot more to buy, repair and replace.
Worth the expense only if you are into design.
Your work is mainly www lookups and word processing. A Mac would be largely redundant.

MACs are not used much for design these days, ceratinly not in the printing world where Quark is now on PCs. They are too expensive.

Most of the school IT jobs I have applied for have included looking after MACs - the last one had a room full of them (plus a MAC server) and they are used for musci - keyboards etc attached.

Don't tell that to my SiL who uses a Mac to design knitwear patterns or my BiL who uses one to design exhibition stands  whistle:

I always find it interesting that the iPod saved Apple from going out of business.

Then you don't give a sh*t ................. unless it's a RTB warranty which can be a pain in the arse to wrap and expensive to post.

Another moan altogether but why do the wimmin we live with always throw away the packaging for anything that has a RTB warranty .... usually a week before it goes wrong and needs to be returned?

Wrong question.

How do devices detect that the women have thrown away the packaging so they know when to go wrong under warranty?

It must be part of the 367 day self-destruct mechanism.  evil:

Now that the daughter's laptop is dead, she "borrowed" Mrs TMRBB's.

Which is now infected with some right nasty virus... cussing:

My boys make a habit of this ... no matter what restrictions I place on them and what version of AVG I install they unerringly seek out sites that infect them.

Sounds familiar. I have AVG on all the laptops and haven't had a problem. Until now. I have (eventually) managed to get Spybot S&D on it - took a while becuase the virus kept terminating the install. First scan revealed 321 infections. It managed to clean most, but 77 remain as it couldn't clean them with certain processes running. Now re-booted and it's scanning again.
