PS I've added a 8Gbyte SD card to my system and I'd say it has improved performance considerably...

I can only get it to use 4Gbytes for some reason but I'd say it is a worthwhile enhancement...

Best tenner I've spent in ages judging from my laptop performance now.  cloud9:

I didn't think of trying it on my laptop...  rubschin:

Did you optimise it for performance in Device Manager too?

Daughter's laptop (Compaq) failed to start - 2 choices, Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally.  Start Windows Normally just looped back to the same message.

Launch Startup Repair brings up a nice blue screen and...nothing. Or seemingly nothing.

You have to wait for about 30 minutes and then the Startup Repair box comes up and off it goes Searching for Problems. It's been at it for 40 minutes so far...

Mine did a whole load of updates yesterday - perhaps that caused it...?

It says it's repaired itself. But it takes over 10 minutes to boot up. Hmm....

My five penny worth
They are NOT all they are cracked up to be ~ they do go wrong, they do get bugs, virus etc and they cost a fvck of a lot more to buy, repair and replace.
Worth the expense only if you are into design.
Your work is mainly www lookups and word processing. A Mac would be largely redundant.

MACs are not used much for design these days, ceratinly not in the printing world where Quark is now on PCs. They are too expensive.

Most of the school IT jobs I have applied for have included looking after MACs - the last one had a room full of them (plus a MAC server) and they are used for musci - keyboards etc attached.
