London Car Bomb
« on: June 29, 2007, 12:17:17 PM »
Am I alone in thinking this was just some pissed up navvy and not really a potential terrorist outrage.

Look at the evidence - a silver Merc (the chosen wheels of half successful paddy builder) containing petrol canister (no doubt for a Jenny), gas bottles and nails. Sounds to me like he was loaded up to replenish a job, got wasted in a boozer, stacked it and buggered off.

If you want to plant a car bomb, you don't crash it first, making it obvious. Also, petrol is hardly in the same league as Semtex or fertiliser based explosives. Plus the nails would tend to be attached to the "bomb" if they were for maiming purposes.

This wouldn't be El Gordo trying to show how safe the country has now become thanks to his unwanted and ongoing tenure at No. 10, would it?

I must have missed something on the news.

Why is there a little mobile phone symbol at the top of your post?

I clicked it and nothing happened. redface:

men with beards have been mentioned by Sky, but I thought that if it was muslims they would have blown themselves up with it.

Interesting to hear that another vehicle " connected to the first one " has been found at Hyde Park where some work is being carried out, It seems your theory could be plausable

The streets of Surrey are still no doubt safe, though.

The streets of Barrow proably not so - but never were. Are Nick and Bar Wench meeting up as we speak? If so, I shall conduct a hubcap check in the Surrey area tomorrow...

I agree with Berek ? the beards wouldn't have run off and left the things would they? Also, as TMR pointed out they continued to state until late last night that the 'bomb' consisted of petrol, gas cylinders and nails ? none of which would have caused a catastrophic explosion on their own.

Unless there was really a pound of Semtex or a load of weed killer involved somewhere I 'm still not seeing this as a bomb at all...
