Well as I see it we and the US along with most European Countries have become consumer societies. We no longer manufacture very much thus we can easily reduce our carbon emissions. All manufacturing has been, over the years, outsourced to China, Korea, Vietnam etc. So all our slanty eyed friends need to do is wait a little longer, until we are even further up sh*t creek than we already are and then they can outsource manufacturing to the "Western nations" whilst they become a consumer society. It won't happen overnight which is why they cannot put figures to the promises yet but mark my words that is their long term plan.
President Hu Jintao offered to reduce the so-called carbon intensity of factories and power plants in the world’s third- biggest economy by an unspecified amount at a United Nations summit on climate change yesterday in New York.
