Gordon Brown today issues a posthumous apology to a Second World War code breaker who killed himself after being tried and convicted of being homosexual.
However it was not your fault Gordon ~ You weren't even born then so shut up about this and start issuing apologies for those things that YOU are responsible for ~ like the huge debts this country has, like the daylight robbery of pension funds, like the selling of our gold reserves when gold was at the lowest price ever, like doing your now famous McCavity act and vanishing when any decisions were made about joining in a war that cost hundreds of British lives, billions of ?s and for which the reasons given for our involvement have been proved to have been lies told by the Government that you were a senior figure in and now lead.
Just once Prime Minister (unelected) say you are sorry for something for which you do have a real responsibility.
This was Blair's trick. Apologise for something that is history and that he had no influence over thus deflecting attention from the real issues of today. Remember Blair saying sorry for slavery? Slavery which the British actually did more to stop than any other country and which, in fact, started back in the Stone age. But it bought him headlines when he needed to divert attention from his lies and misdeeds.
