The problems with giving up working in the City are:
(i) You miss the "buzz" that you aren't even aware of once you have been there for a few years.
(ii) Pay rates elsewhere seem pitiful by comparison ~ although the costs of "going to work" are also lower but you don't notice that until at least a year later.
(iii) Wherever else you work you piss people off either because you have worked in the city or because you find them so slow.
(iv) You have to change your conversation mode to suit your new colleagues or they get even more pissed off with you than you are with them.
(v) Once you are "out" it is nigh on impossible to get back in and you will want to get back in.


The best answer is to make it a complete lifestyle change, not that I would recommend North Wales but that sort of idea.

Another view from here. I spent 25 years in London and loved it but it drove me mad in the end (transport/traffic/parking). Mrs Nick commuted to Greenwich from Kingston on the S Circular or M25 (both equally frightful) and I spent my life on the A3  noooo: We sold the house there and moved oop North (Mrs Nick to a job admittedly - which is the main problem). Much bigger house for the same dosh, better quality of life (and schools) and when I go to London now I make time to wander, see films, friends and so on and get more use out if it than I did when I lived there (at least for the last ten years). Best of both worlds cloud9:

I werked with a woman (I use the term loosely) in London who was challenged in various ways:

Ginormous
Beard (ovarian cysts)  noooo:
False teeth
Brillo pad hair
Poor dress sense

But we got on well and had to work together a lot. Mrs Nick was CONVINCED we were having an affair  confused2:

I knew she was shagging someone who was blind  happy001

After I left there I worked with another woman (I truly prefer women to men as mates). I was barred from seeing her after hours (early years of marriage  noooo:). There have been more  noooo:

TBH I ignored her and carried on as I wanted. Just had a row whenever we happened to meet in the house (which in the latter years was not often)

? Cura?ao, Dutch Antilles - sun, snorkelling, beaches, biatches, fine fresh food, oh, and Snoops, it's Dutch  eyes:

? Tourettes-sur-Loup, just above Grasse in the Alpes Maritimes. A fine, hill top, mediaeval village which we renamed Swearing-sur-le-Bog. I rented a house there with some friends there many years ago and one of the chores I recall having great pleasure with was to trundle the 5 gallon glass carboy up to the vinicole for a refill. There were 3 pumps, just like a regular petrol station only they were named Blanc, Rouge and Ros?  lol:

"Alors, 25 litres de Ros? encore, Monsieur?"
"Oui, Gaston. Nous avons un soif diabolique aujourd'hui!"
"Pas de probleme, Monsieur Pastis. Ca fait 12 francs."
