Bank holiday travel chaos on M5
Thousands of motorists heading off for the Bank Holiday weekend were trapped in traffic for more than six hours after the M5 was closed due to a suicidal man threatening to throw himself off the Avonmouth Bridge.

There would have been less inconvenience if a police "marksman" had simple shot the silly sod and the traffic could have been moving again within half an hour. What would the authorities have done if it had been say a cow or sheep that had wandered onto the motorway? They would have made a brief attempt to catch it then the decision would have been made to shoot the bloody thing and get the traffic moving again.
Yes I understand why they have to stop the traffic. No-one wants to be underneath when these idiots jump but what a waste of time and resources just because this "animal" happens to be a human one.
