William Goldman
« on: August 17, 2009, 05:25:15 PM »
Stuck for some emergncy reading matter on Friday I found a junk shop with books in mac macyn Wales and stumbled upon his Hype and Glory.

I had vaguely heard of him. He wrote the screenplays for Butch Cassidy and All the President's Men (amongst other things).

This is his marvellously written and very very funny account of judging, in the same year:

The Cannes Film Festival
The Miss America Pageant

Sounds unpromising?

Not at all. I was gripped and laughing out loud.

Recommended if you like laffing
