Apparently it isn't dangerous to humans even though it is in the same family as the Black Widow. I'm going to hazard a guess that is the opinion of an Australian  lol:

I'm making an educated guess here as BM was too much of a wuss to use his hand for scale  whistle: But I'd say it was either a European Tarantula, a Stone Huntsman spider or a Large Wolf spider. The tarantulas tend to hide in old stone walls or drywall..

So your DIY projects could be about to get a tad more interesting   eveilgrin:
