Actually it will cost £1.26 for them to collect the underpaid letter. There is a £1 handling charge made by the Royal Mail on top of the deficient postage.  whistle:

They may of course elect not to collect the item from the Post Office. Royal Mail will then return the item to the sender. If there is no return address they will return it to the bank/branch on which the cheque is drawn who will place any charges incurred on the cheque writer's account ~ prolly plus £35 for writing to them about it.

OH ain't as smart as he thinks he is. As always he has over-egged his pudding. Stick with the initial idea and forget the post office bit would be my advice.
