My previous post vanished into the ether. If it reappears it will read somewhat like this:
I have mixed feelings about Peter Tatchell. I feel proud of him for standing up for what he believes is right. He certainly has courage and has taken some beatings for his willingness to stick his neck on the block.
I was particularly proud of him when he tried to "arrest" Mugabe and got a hiding for his trouble when our "Straw in the Wind" Foreign Secretary was busy trying to explain how he had been "tricked" into shaking the bloodied hand of the black butcher.
I do object to Tatchell using the word Gay. Gay used to mean happy and he is certainly not that.
Most Happy Homos I know also object to the word gay. They are content to be called Queers or Homos and in fact use these terms themselves. The use of "Gay" has been, they feel, forced upon them by the lefties (K Livingstone and co) in an attempt to make them more "acceptable".
I don't care that Tatchell is queer. That is what floats his boat and good luck to him. He is far from stupid and went to Moscow fully aware that he was likely to get a hammering but that is his way of drawing attention to his cause. Others have done similar things for different causes.
I would like Tatchell more if he wasn't such a sanctimonious little twit.
