Has anyone else had the misfortune to join their local "Freecycle" group?

I joined mine last week because I had a load of stuff in my garage I needed to get rid of, like an old cot, garden chairs, compost bin, manhole cover etc, and thought it would be better to give them away to someone who really needed them, rather than taking them down the tip, or waste hours trying to sell them for a few pounds.
I had no shortage of people contact me about the stuff, so gave out my address, phone number etc and arranged for five or six collections to the lucky applicants....only one person turned up.

You'd think when people are giving stuff away for free, they'd have the decency to actually turn up at the agreed time, or reply to emails asking when they were going to come and pick it up...? The "have you no shame?" email rebukes are going out as we speak.
I have quickly come to the conclusion that Freecycle is a virtual "Branscombe Beach" for scrounging underclass scum, chancers and car boot dealers. Half the "Wanted" ads are from people asking for laptops, televisions and the like...

I have remonstrated with the administrator and requested a means to name and shame these people, but I am not holding my breath. It's all going to the tip on Saturday and I will take great pleasure in seeing it carted off to the landfill, hopefully where these peasants can't get their grasping, undeserving hands on them!
