Does the team think
« on: July 19, 2008, 11:30:02 AM »
That a Student Nurse should be barred from taking the course and becoming a nurse because of a conviction for theft and deception gained when she was a teenager?
Personally I say yes ..... the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act specifically excludes the medical profession so her conviction cannot be deemed to be "spent". Others may have different ideas about this but as I see it we have a right to expect only the very highest standards from those who are to be placed in a position of influence over the vulnerable. This is a case IMO where better safe than sorry would seem to apply.

I recall some trainee doc was barred from IMperial College recently cos he had a theft conviction.Cannot people be deemed to have been rehabilitated ever? She wants to make a contribution and will be paid a pittance for doing so..............
