If you managed to intercept all such material coming into the house you will never be able to stop it coming into her life. How do you stop her reading someone else's copy on the school bus, in the lunch break, at her friends house during a sleep-over?

Such material should not be published I agree but when you have schools, by goverment decree, showing 12 and 13 year olds how to fit a condom onto a banana and having teacher led class discussions about oral and anal sex just how do you propose to stop the magazines from getting out there?

No point in complaining unless you have an answer. You just have to deal with it best you can. In here I can make a joke of it. With my daughters I did not blow my top but calmly explained and answered their questions.  At the end of the day, IMHO, the knowledgable and trusted daughter is the one least likely to experiment or be "led astray".

OK. Let's leave it there. Owners and publishers of such magazines should be flogged on that we can agree. Whilst we are at it lets also flog all the b@st@rd left wing right-on politicians who fail to control these things and include in the general flogging readers of the Guardian and anyone who lives in Islington.

Actually although people disliked the now abolished censorship of newspapers, books and magazines under the Lord Chamberlain's Office it had a great deal to commend it.

I'm possibly the only one that remembers this but More magazine used to have a feature called position of the fortnight. Some girl left hers on the train a few weeks ago and I was flicking through it and they've started repeating them!

There is an occasional debate about the distinction between education and training.The distinction is simple. If your daughter comes home from school and tells you they are doing "sex education" then you are pleased. If, on the other hand, she says they are starting "sex training" you are not.

If you recognise the distinction then you know the difference!
