Wish I could have been there then.  You should see what they call scallops up here I was amazed at how cheap they were until I found out what they are.  sick2:

Slice of tater in batter .... they do that here too.

Meanwhile, when I knew Sheffield, the chippies also used to offer a "Fish Cake" which turned out to be a small piece of fish sandwiched between two slices of spud, dipped in batter and fried.

What I knew as a "Fish-cake" was referred to as a "Fish Rissole"
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Tried one what man? Don't keep us guessing an apc a bed, sleeping?  We need to know.

Snoops they still do the fish cake and rissole thing.  Chips with gravy is another favourite. sick2:

I will eat most things, I am not squeamish and I know it's personal taste but I have never managed to get the hang of tripe or chitterlings again all are still very popular here.

On the up side I have found a butcher that sells chicken hearts. cloud9:  It means I don't get so dirty when I do the old ritual sacrifice once a week. ;)
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

Wait until someone offers you "Cow-heel Pie". The most revolting dish ever invented.

Yes I suppose they do, once the memory was bought to the surface.  It was the combination of the laydees and the costumes which up close were prolly ill made and tatty but from where I was sitting quite spectacular. Along these lines.

Tried a battered Mars bar once Miss C  sick2:

I never believed that you Southern types found chips and gravy strange.

Tripe is hard to come by here, but I like it raw or cooked. Having said that, I watched a programme recently on the process it undergoes from cow to shop window and it was off-putting..... Chitterlings  sick2:
