Telstar

It was pure coincidence that I watched telstar on the (near) anniversary of his death last night but I'm bloody glad I did.

A totally awesome movie!  happy088 happy088 happy088 happy088 happy088

Joe Meek was the world's first independent record producer and became famous with the release of Telstar which was number 1 in Britain and the USA - the biggest selling record of the time.

The film tells Jo's story from the time he set up his recording studio in London. Great recreation of London in the 60s and some beautiful old vehicles.

The acting is superb, the soundtrack is awesome.

Features Con O'Neill, Kevin Spacey, Ralf Little and James Corden.

I urge you to buy/rent/steal this film...

Features man-on-man shagging.

Watched this film last night and would concur with BM ( not something you are going to hear very often  lol: )

But brilliant performances all round . A very troubled man, as is the plight of many a genius one feels  noooo:

Thanks yew!  cloud9:

I am the Pub's Barry Norman to be sure....  cloud9:

Forgot I went to the cinema the other night to watch Lovely Bones.

I didn't cry .....which I did when I read the book, so the film obviously did not convey the same sentiment or brutality that the book did.

The scenes of afterlife, where the main character spent most of the movie  watching , were all very kitsch and just didn't do it for me I'm afraid.  The acting was extremely good though .

An Education

Excellent acting ....loved Alfred Molina and Carey Mulligan excellent as 16 yr old schoolgirl ( highly intelligent who has geared her life up to this point to getting into Oxford)   but then  falls for the charms of a charismatic older man who is not what he seems ( are they ever  whistle: )

Simple story set in the 60's - story of a first love ( the proper education  ;) )

No gratuitous shagging  - but implied naughties
