I know that but had had a feeling that mentioning Miss D, pots and throwing in the same sentence would lead to the sound of crockery smashing against a wall..  whistle:

I only ever did pottery once at school. It was meant o be a vase for my mother - I ended up bringing home something which I later referred to as an ashtray. I think even that was pushing the boundaries of artistic licence.

I refer to this as my flattening phase  lol: lol: lol:

There was a bloke in the woodwork class at my school (a subject at which I was utterly useless). One term we had to make a toast rack  ::) He asked if he could make a record rack instead and was told he couldn't. So he made a toast rack three feet long with space for about 60 pieces of toast!! lol:

Woodwork classes... ahhh...  lol:

Apart from possessing a wooden leg (the joint of which he used to oil publicly from time to time  eeek: ) our woodwork master was renowned for coming out with a classic phrase.
One boy had made a disastrous attempt at the current task thereby wasting good timber. The master scolded him for his ineptitude and wastefulness... finishing off with the words:

"Bloody 'ell, lad, wood don't grow on trees yer know!"
