Completely destroyed any feeling I had for my grandparents, in fact actually came to hate my Grandmother. They intefered completely and utterly with family life and caused more arguements than I care to think about. Then they became ill. Grandfather had alzheimers then he died, Grandmother had cancer then she died. She became quite odd and extremely difficult as the elderly tend to. Accused me of trying to kill her and steal from her.
It was all terribly unpleasant. And not something that grandchildren should have to witness. I've told my Mum that it is a home for her. That under no circumstances will I ever have an elderly parent living with or down the road from me within walking distance.
