Singer Amy Winehouse has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of drug offences. The 24-year-old was held after police were handed a video which allegedly showed her taking drugs. A Metropolitan Police (Met) spokesman said the arrest was in connection with a video of the star passed to the force in January this year. On 22 January, The Sun newspaper published pictures allegedly showing the star smoking crack cocaine. Footage obtained by the newspaper appeared to show the Grammy award winner inhaling fumes from a pipe. Common assault Last month the star spent a night in prison in London before being cautioned for common assault. The singer had admitted to slapping a man with an open hand in Camden, north London, close to where she lives. A spokesman for the Met said: "Around 1pm today a 24-year-old woman from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug. "This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on 22 January." Earlier Ms Winehouse's spokesman said in a statement: "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. "She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with inquiries. "The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year." Earlier photographers and television cameras gathered outside Limehouse police station in east London where Ms Winehouse was being questioned by police.

Singer Amy Winehouse will not face charges over a video that purported to show her smoking a crack cocaine pipe, police have confirmed. She was interviewed under caution by police in east London after the footage was posted online in January. "The Crown Prosecution Service has now reviewed the case and no further action is being taken," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. "Amy is pleased to be able to move on," her spokesman said. "She particularly looks forward to seeing her fans again at eagerly-awaited festival performances this summer." Matter closed Winehouse, 24, was arrested at Limehouse police station on 7 May in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug, police said. She had been bailed to return later this month, but the matter has now been closed. The video, posted online by The Sun newspaper, was said to have been filmed at her home. The Crown Prosecution Service said the footage itself did not establish whether the substances were illegal drugs. "In the absence of any forensic opportunity or reliable evidence from any witness... we concluded we could not establish to the high criminal standard of proof required in a criminal court that they were controlled drugs," it said. Last month, the singer was cautioned by police after admitting a common assault after an incident in Camden, north London. Winehouse is due to play a number of festivals across Europe this summer, starting with Portugal's Rock In Rio - In Lisbon event in May. In the UK, she is playing at T in the Park, V Festival and Bestival, while she is also due at Ireland's Oxegen and Rock en Seine in Paris.
