Huge investment in close-circuit TV technology has failed to cut UK crime, a senior police officer has warned.
Det Ch Insp Mike Neville said the system was an "utter fiasco" - with only 3% of London's street robberies being solved using security cameras.
Although Britain had more cameras than any other European country, he said "no thought" had gone into how to use them.
Evenin' All
A Policeman YesterdayWhat a surprise!

Millions of cameras covering everybody’s movements (?) yet they don’t stop crime. Why? At a guess I’d suggest that criminals either go somewhere else or wear a ‘hoodie’ so they can’t be recognised…
I bet they’ve got billions of hours of footage of unidentified ‘hoodies’ committing crime.

Just think how many police patrols all those cameras, control centres and operators would have paid for!
