When I was little I got my shoe lace stuck in the bit at the bottom where it disapears to go round again. I thought I was going to get sucked in and gut into slivers.

I was only thinking this morning as I left Liverpool Street (via the stairs) that short escalators should be switched off.

It would save energy and maybe reduce obesity a little.

Yes. The one when you think "Funny, I know I'm not drunk so why do I feel as if my legs have turned to jelly?"

But why?

I think because your brain expects that the stopped escalator will be moving. The brain works in a funny way at times and sometimes denys the evidence of your eyes.

Probably wouldn't happen to Wenchy then.
