It is utterly ridiculous! I bend over backwards trying to make sure that both Mums have as equal time with us as possible. Why don't others do the same? Why on earth is it acceptable that the boys drop their families?

So many questions. Mr Wench hasn't dropped his "Mam" because (i) he is Welsh (ii) you keep him up to the mark and (iii) his domestic circs, growing up, were different.
Your brother is simply being a typically thoughtless boy who will become even more so if you continue to nag him about it ALSO You do not provide him with the leg over opportunities  .... remember  sick2:

 rubschin: My children would only be half Welsh so that means I won't be completely dropped. Suppose it has it's advantages.


I sent my final email on the subject and just told him to think about it. Generally that tends to work.

He sent me one back just now asking what baked goods I would be turning up with when I help him move next weekend. Clearly my preaching has been forgotten.  ::)
