On a serious side ....everyone is entitled to sell his/her talents to the highest bidder is how I see it and I would not deny that some nurses are worth their weight in gold but then there are a great many who wear the uniform who, frankly, should pay the NHS for providing them with a chair on which to sit their fat arses for hours at a time whilst they chat the shift away with their mates. Not all nurses are "Angels of Mercy" as the tabloids would have us believe.
Based on my experiences in various hospitals over the last ten years I would say that 75% of the nursing is done by 33% of the nurses ... the rest by other patients and visitors. Having been hospitalised in Paris for 10 days in 1998 I can assure you that things are very different there. The NHS has become a sanctuary for far too many bone idle nurses, over paid doctors and above all superfluous managers.
