Some years ago I used to run a lot of residential traning courses.People would come, spend three days making notes and doing various things and then go back to "work". For a while it was impossible to know whether they actually did anything differently as a result of the course. So a colleague and I used to get them to write a letter to themselves, outlining three things they would do differently in the next three months. We would gather these in and then post them to the delegates three months later. You get the idea.
FOr some reason, perhaps it was the Ken Dodd trip, perhaps it is because he is currently obsessed with a film called Flight of the Navigator (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_of_the_Navigator), I got the Boy to write himself a letter last night. It described his day, his trip to the theatre, his plans for the coming weekend, what he had for tea and so on.
We then sealed it up (with wax!) and addressed it to himself, marking it not to be opened until July 1st 2016 (his 18th birthday). On that day he will receive a letter from his childhood self.

Have I gone mad or is this a nice thing to do?
