I thought there was an already airport there even in 1943 -  seems not

I think the airport (or perhaps the Hurricane Factory) was at Langly...

It is a picture of a rare (only 1 built) MK V with twin 40mm cannons. It caught my eye because in the background is where I was born!






My Mum always told me that during the war they put lights in the closest Staines reservoir to fool German bombers into dropping their load there which always seemed unlikely to me but as you can see from the picture, it was empty at the time...  rubschin:


I used to love walking up the footpath between the two reservoirs...
