I've been seeing adverts for this campaign for a while now and The hypocrisy pisses me off.

Water companies who lose more than 2.5 billion litres of water a day through leaking pipes have the unmitigated gall to tell us to save water.

Similar issues here - increase population muchly but don't invest in infrastructure = water shortage...

Cyprus has embraced desalination finally but then we have an almost limitless supply of solar energy to run the plants...

I don't see much other option apart from building massive new dams (sorry, we're flooding your family land) or reducing the population which ain't gonna happen...

But the reality is neither you or I would not want to pay for either the cost of desalinised water or to get leakage dramatically down quickly.  It's already better than halved since privatisation.

It doesn't help that we keep building new housing estates in already crowded areas forcing the suppliers to increase the pressure on aged water mains.
