You can get an adapter USB-C >>> 3.5"

I had a geiger counter sensor that used the headphone socket, doesn't work through one of those adaptors 

But for audio yes you're right, adaptors or bluetooth work just fine

I have headphones point adaptors for shitload of phones …coz the great unwashed often have a song on their phone and no headphone points … …
