Perhaps they thought that if there was a major disaster in your vicinity you would most likely be at ground zero so there is to point in contacting you..  whistle:

Mine went off a minute early, just as I was about to move the phone so as to not startle Cobnut who was right next to it.  He was not best amused.

I don't mind them doing the test though, it makes sense but I rather fear we'll get alerts now for niff naff and trivia.
