Just back from the hospital. A pre-op for a colonoscopy next week. No worries as this is just my regular check-up as I'm prone to polyps. Not showing any symptoms.

This is one procedure where the preparation is worse than actual event. Still, I might lose a few kilos

Finally back from the hospital.

Not the most dignified of procedures but all went okay until a polyp was spotted as well a small (20mm) lesion.

Biopsies taken and a repeat requested under sedation as both in an awkward position. Both were very painful to get biopsies, let alone take out the polyp..

Not the best of news but not evidence of cancer so we shall see.

Next Monday for the repeat colonoscopy.

How the NHS works (or doesn't)

I was referred to a consultant by my GP and had an appointment on the 9th October last year who then arranged the procedure. I  had a follow up booked for the 29th January to discuss the results. Of course the procedure appointment was delayed so the follow up was moved to the 2nd April, this appointment has now been cancelled and rebooked for the 21st May. I assume (and hope) if anything dubious is found I'll be informed a bit sooner than late May.

My experience is they move fast when they see a serious problem. But good luck Uncle
