For anyone interested, the red dotted line is the approximate area of the village which is on the move - approximately 50,000m2

The red arrow is fally down road...

The blue arrow points to where I am currently living...

For added fun, the red crosses are properties that I am aware have been condemned or abandoned by their owners...

...the yellow crosses are properties that have been severely damaged but are still occupied.

Probably not a comprehensive list.  noooo:

rubschin:  not funny at all for those that lived in them

Wasn't there some row about the authorities promising to do something and then doing nothing?
Well, whatever, nevermind

Yes, it has been a bit of a farce...

They condemned two villas and forced the owners to move out... they then paid their rental for a short while but were stopped by the gubberment...

You can't get insurance for landslides here so if you are affected you are basically fucked...

...however, if it is a landslide then the gubberment must step in. But they won't agree it is a landslide even though the evidence and satellite surveys prove it.

Luckily, fally-down road is a gubberment road so hopefully when they are forced to close it they will have to acknowledge the landslide.

Sadly, I suspect somebody will need to be killed or seriously injured before anything happens...  noooo:

Surely someone knew that was mobile land when they built those houses

Well, whatever, nevermind

No...

All the surveys show that the land slid about 10,000 years ago.

About 10,000 years later Pissouri started to be developed and some of the houses, roads and the cemetery were built on the slipped land.

The two house that were condemned were built over 30 years ago and the cemetery much earlier than that.

But then in 2012 the land started moving again. Nobody knows (or will acknowledge) why it started moving again but the surveys show that the water table has risen from -30m to -6m and is the probable cause...

So somebody needs to take the blame for over-development (there is no mains sewer system) causing water to be dumped into the land or one of the drainage systems installed recently...
