Commonwealth - what is it all about ??

So anyone working in Central London this week would have been scuppered by the cavalcades, the entourages , the  extensive road closures for the dignitaries, the gazillion gun salute that went on for ages yesterday, the fuss and furor of our Commonwealth Leaders all coming together for a weekday brunch  Shocked:

But for what ??

What value does the Commonwealth have  today except to send the Royals off to foreign shores when they need a holiday ???

Once upon a time when air travel was riskier it provided a potential way to save us from Charlie.  Now we have the idiocy of Our Liz publicly pleading a barely disguised "please give my dimwitted son something to do to get him off my and Philip's hands"

You might as well ask what's the use of friends.

And I doubt that Charles is dimwitted, maybe misguided at times. Yesterdays speech was to ensure smooth transition when Liz pegs it not to get Charles out the way.

Nothing I imagine. I bet a different head of the Commonwealth would cost us as they would require a separate state apparatus than the king would have already.
