If it is any consolation, the thought of having it done is infinitely worse than the quick and painless procedure itself.

TBH I'm not that worried, I can still see fine (with specs on) so I'll get it done when and if like.

IIRC just about everyone that gets older gets cataracts but only some need the Op.
