Father and son killed in shooting

A father and son were two of three people shot dead at their family home in Hertfordshire.

Keith Cowell, 52, and his son Matthew, 17, died in the shooting in Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday night. The third victim, aged 33, has not been named.

A woman aged 54, believed to be Mr Cowell's sister, and a woman aged 23, believed to be Matthew's girlfriend Claire, were seriously injured in the shooting.

I?m sure you have all seen this but does anybody else feel that this is being played down? Quotes like: -

?Early information suggests this was a targeted incident and not a random attack."

And

Police described the incident as a "disturbing but targeted incident".

Seem to imply that it is okay because the people were targeted ? i.e. don?t worry, it wasn?t a random killing, it can?t happen to you.

The fact that it happened means it can happen to anybody. The fact that there are still guns on the street after they?ve been banned means that the police are not doing their job.

So I think the coded message in the "Not a random killing" statement is "This is drug gang related" but by Asian appearance do they mean Middle or Far Eastern? ~ Put it another way Paki or Chinese? ...you chumps of political correctness. After all Asian covers everything from the Mongol Hordes, Slavs, Pakistani, Indian, Bengali, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino etc etc

Sometimes it is irrelevant what colour/nationality a person is and the information given is not necessary, just as it is not necessary for every person a newspaper speaks to/quotes from etc to have their age given BUT where the police are actively asking for help in finding someone it is useful to know if he/she is White/Black/Yellow/Tattooed/Pink with green spots or whatever. Just as useful as knowing their height, colour of hair & eyes, what they were wearing, make, colour and registration of vehicle.

As for the Cyprus Airport incident I can see a relevance if only to assure relatives of all non Filipino workers. Until names etc can be released it is a quick and easy way of avoiding mass hysteria among the families of ALL airport workers.
