Sadly its closed now but my favourite pub would have been the Laughing Pirate (or just known as the Pirate) in Falmouth, Cornwall.
When I was younger it was one of the only pubs in the middlle of town that had live music instead of playing playing shite pop muzak. I have a lot of really good nights hearing great local bands like the Rythmn Doctors (I still remember being in absolute hysterics seeing the landlords face as half the band took off on an impromptu sand dance behind the bar mid gig, helping themselves to drinks), Reef and the Concrete Geraniums to big name acts like Skunk Anansie, the Levellers and one one occaision Madness.
Now at first glance, even after the refit, if it was your first time there you would think it was a shitehole, the tables were those huge wooden reels you see that would normally have steel cable wrapped around them, the mixing desk for the stage was inside an old truck cab but it all added to the atmosphere there, everyone was chilled out.
I still miss it, never found anywhere else that felt quite the same.
