Have you noticed that our Special Envoy to the Middle East has been VERY quiet about the whole situation. Does anyone think he's actually doing anything about this or more likely is he just sunning himself somewhere hot and exclusive. 

As far as taking military action against Syria is concerned have we actually got anything left to field. Between the gutting of the armed forces and our current commitments I get the feeling all we have left to use are a couple of platoons of TA's and the Army Cadets.

Unless Russia agrees to anything I can't see there being any meaningful military action and as they have a vested interest in keeping the current regime in place I can't see them agreeing to anything.

Even posturing is dangerous. 

Just arm the majority secular rebels at Saudi expense and let them get rid of Assad.  Just sending them not much more than packed lunches and rain wear plays straight into the hands of the fringe jihadist opposition

But good that we get a parliamentary debate, not sure Hague will like the way it goes.

And Meister, you'll find that our Special Envoy has said quite a lot.
