In serious mode ..........( I know 1st time )  Miss T has not done the tourist thing here ..so would be happy to show you .........

tomb of the kings etc ..... Thumbs:

(me n Baldy will go to the boozer)..

Tombs of the kings is boring.... You see one tomb and you've seen all 3,857 of them....  noooo:

The mosaics at Pafos are excellent... and the remains and mosaics at Kourium are awesome....

The water parks are full of top Russian totty with their tits out....

The mosaics at Paphos are false. A bunch of Polish students came over each year during the summer to do the archaeological bit and found the bits involved in the original mosaics (strewn all over the place). A Cypriot from Tala who does mosaic dolphins etc.. in posh peoples' swimming pools was brought in to do "designs".  noooo:

I took my eldest there and in The House of Dionysus she pointed out in the middle of the main mosaic there was a double manhole within the mosaic....it either belongs to the electricity board or CYTA (Cyprus telecom).  noooo:

I can't imagine that they would be allowed to dig up an ancient 'World Heritage Site' to lay cables, but I may be wrong they could have been in business a few years before those false mosaics were put in place thousands of years ago. Shrugs:

She has the picture on her digital camera, I will get it and post it.

'Indian Joe' that drinks in The 60's bar lives next door to the pool man. Joe told me years ago about it, I was not sure until the eldest pointed out the double manhole cover (JOM will know what they are called....ones that sit in the pavement but have a sunken bit that you can fill in to make it look like the rest of the pavement/mosaics).

If you want we can have a mahoosive bet and then I will take you there to prove it......after taking all of your munny I will buy the drinks for the rest of the day.  Thumbs:

Doesn't mean it was ancient telephone cables tho - perhaps they just needed a drain like....?

I'm not sure what you want to bet...? ::)

That the manhole covers are there (I've seen them) or the mosaics are false/artificial in some way...?

Given the age of the stuff it would be extremely naive to think the mosaics were found in the condition we see today… indeed they even have videos there showing how the mosaics are lifted, restored and returned…

Why there is a drain cover I don’t know… given the sites were occupied for many thousands of years I guess it is possible that the covers give access to earlier constructions that the mosaics were built on top of…

Whatever, they are still stunning and we are indeed fortunate to have them on our doorstep and be able to access them for €2…

Well Feck moi

A little peek at the Wiki reveals that:  "Paphos has been selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2017 along with Aarhus."   eeek:   Not what I expected having read 50 million posts here.

(Resists temptation to ask exactly which biological culture)

Also that Paphos was the place for worshipping Aphrodite.  Wasn't she the goddess of Nookie

Well, whatever, nevermind
