Out in the wilds thread
« on: June 05, 2013, 07:28:35 AM »
Decided I'm going to go up me 'BIG 'Ill' this weekend, and found this rather awesome 360 degree view from the top whilst obtaining details of a route I've not tackled before.
PDG imo and gives a clue as to why I like being out in the wilds so much  cloud9:  rather than mooching around in some impersonal grubby city.  sick2:

When you first click on the link, you can see the fearsome Crib Goch ridge walk facing you.
Even this grizzly owld creature won't do that,  noooo:  well not until I can find someone who knows its perils and can guide me across it. angel1

Tar lah.

You Mr Steve, will be most welcome to accompany me if you so wish.

Another first I discovered on there, if you click on 'back to the walk' you'll find a 3 minute Yuseless Tube vid of 'virtual flying' up and down the entire route. eeek:
Not so sure the gradients are as gentle as they appear on the 4 mile trek vid.,, but gives a good idea what to expect I suppose.
Was most most impressed.

The Pyg Track that I usually use, is shown quite clearly on the beginning of the photo, traversing its way under Crib Goch, and snaking its way to the top ridge.
The last bit through the zig zag is an absolute killer of a hike when you're already goosed. surrender:
