Comfort
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:46:55 PM »
Hi, I'm Snoopy's eldest daughter Sheilagh.  Alison told me about the VP and Dad's involvement in it so I've been having a bit of a nosey which I hope is okay.

The posts I've read since you heard the news last Thursday have touched me deeply.  It's nice to know the Old Boy found an outlet for his many and varied tales; I gather he dispensed his wisdom and advice freely.  Did it come with his standard disclaimer about how 'advice is meant to be given not taken' or was that something he reserved for his stubborn children?!

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your memories and comments as well as the support so many are offering Alison and the children.

Hi Sheilagh

Lovely of you to pop your head in here and Snoopy would be rightly proud of your post. I'm away next week so I won't be able to attend the funeral but I will be thinking of you all

Take care of each other, Glenn

Hi Sheilagh thank you for your lovely post and for taking the time to make it when things must be fairly frantic and sad.

A few years ago, well more than a few your dad mentioned you in a PM to me, I queried the spelling of your name and asked if it was Gaelic, he told me and I don't know if it's true or if you know bur he told me that your name had been written down on your birth certificate wrong and that he and your mum had never corrected it. ;D

I will be one of the VPers at your Dads funeral next week and I hope that I have the pleasure of meeting you but will understand if that doesn't happen.

You have probably gathered that your dad was the much loved and appreciated pub 'dog'.  He is and will remain greatly missed but not forgotten.

Should you ever wish to come back just for a look around then please do and we will all have a whip round and buy you a drink.

Take care and know that there are a great many 'virtual people' out here thinking about you and your families, please let them know that, if you think it is appropriate.

Dawn xx

I'd like to echo Glenn's words - the English language may be fullsome and effusive,  but is found wanting at times like this.  We are all thinking of you all.

Thanks all for a lovely welcome.

Dawn the story of my name runs along the lines of he told the registrar it was to be 'Sheila with a gh' but by the time he got to saying 'and a double e' the misspelling was already complete.

I look forward to meeting you, Nick and other VPers next week.  In true Snoopy humour ... I'll be the one in black  ;)
