Apologies for rejoining this thread a tad late. As posted previously, I'm up in the Lake District at the mo and at the time of the funeral I did have a few moments of reflection while stood on a beach at Solway Firth.  sad24:

Tell you summat. Snoops did a fine job raising those nippers to the standard that both he and Alison have done.
We all know he had the usual problems with them all, but he must have been so proud.

My only regret now on reflection is that I didn't speak to his brother. cry:

It sounds like it all went as well as these things can... Well done Miss C , Nick and Fluffy...

I have to say I was just getting to know Snoopy when this disaster happened and am sad that I never got the chance to know him better....

I just hope that he is watching from where ever he is and sees how much love and respect there was for him here...

This is all very strange.  Quite a few of my posts about Snoopy have disappeared from two threads this one and the RIP Snoopy thread.  I posted about his funeral at about 7pm last night once we had reached our destination.

Yesterdays post was from the heart today's is too although a little of the emotion ahs dissipated.

The service was short and simple but emotional none the less, Nick read a poem. and when we were outside the building I was talking to Alison and Amy and said the 'lil bruv' often got a mention, he was standing behind us so I was introduced and had a chat with him Nick is right he seems shy.

We were planning on going for a pint when we were asked back to the house.  How strange it seemed to be in the house that so many rants had issued forth from. To see the fireplaces where he had lit the fires.  The windows that he had painted when tarting the house up ready to sell.  We happened to end up standing by bookshelves and as book lovers started studying the shelves, Alison walked past and said that one book shelf was full of history books the other philosophy books.  One caught my eye and I asked if she minded if I had a look, (it was about neither history nor philosophy) rather plants that heal.  I am looking into the use of turmeric as an anti inflammatory  and pain killer along with chilli.  It turned out that the book belonged to Snoops and that he had done the same thing. Alison told me to keep the book. Awkwardly I asked if she was sure, she was, I have the book with me now.  She is a very lovely and very brave woman.

Amy is a beautiful young woman who seemed poised and at ease with herself and us lot.  She had a BF in tow and she must have been a great strength to her mother and brothers.

Malcolm's first wife was there with Sheilagh and her husband, Sheilagh is as she seems on her CH was playing a supporting role and mum seemed very nice.

The feeling in the house was one of warmth and love. I didn't get much chance to speak to the boys other than to tell them that their dad would have been so proud of them. They flitted around at ease.

The only thing that I would add is that (for me) somehow the service wasn't enough for the man that I knew.  I don't really know what I mean by that but there it is.
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

I understand what you mean miss C. You explained it beautifully.
For those of us who did not have the pleasure of meeting him personally, I think it is a true testament to a man to have moved so many from such a distance. It was emotional in the virtual world too. Our thoughts were with all of you yesterday and I'm certain you made a fine VP ambassador Miss C.

Thanks all.  What a lovely description you have given Miss C, Growler and Nick.  All seem exactly right for the person we knew here.   cloud9:
