Young GROWLER has his big interview today, and was so stressed out last night, pacing the floor back and forth.
 Bear with a sore arse springs to mind even though I was trying my best to calm him down.
He wouldn't shutup going on and on and on repeating himself over and over and over again stating how he thinks he'll be ok, but what if this, what if that.

Long long time since I had a job interview, but do have a certain degree of sympathy.

Nasty experiences iirc, and I believe they are a great deal worse now, with totally irrelevant quetions about random stuff being asked quite often, just to see how you react in an unexpected and  stressful situation

You are right interviews today are awful all this compliance bollocks ... you have also got selection centres, second and third interviews.  In the end they invariably put square pegs in round holes...

Going back to rrelevant questions in an interview, i mean, why the hell would you ask a young and prospective employee his opinion on Neil Diamond as a pop singer when applying for a job as an IT consultant or summat?

IIRC, he answered..."never 'eard of 'im"

WRONG!

Such questions, if used properly, are designed to (i) put the applicant at ease and (ii) attempt to develop a "conversation" in the hope that the interviewer will discover more about the applicant's interests and ability to talk about himself. Some companies use them rather than the now considered "old fashioned" Psychometric Tests. There really is no right or wrong answer .... it is all about how you answer rather than whether you like the singer or not.

Definitely the wrong question for you.

When interviewing prospective employees I'd normally mention/ask them about something currently in the news to start the conversation. Never liked doing interviews though.

Meanwhile, he'll be home within the hour hopefully, and will come bursting in through the door  like an hurricane, in FULL panic mode, flapping around like a demented duck.

Problee won't even have tiime for some grub, as his interview is at 2:30.

I'm taking him so he hasn't got the mither if trying to find somewhere in Chester city center to park.
