What impact do you think there will be on tourists in the near future?

I think the place will be fucked for the foreseeable...  noooo:

They are now saying that they cannot get enough votes to pass this bill... It really is the worst case scenario because everybody will STILL take their cash out whenever the banks allow them yet they won't have the €5B they were planning to steal...  ::)

Don't come over, you say?  rubschin:

Indeed... disastrous incompetence all round really...  noooo:

One of the president's men is in Argentina and couldn't get back for the vote this arvo - that is how close it all is....

Hopefully the haircut will be reduced from 6.7% to 3% tho - some consolation... I'll still be removing all me munny as soon as the bank opens as will many others...

1. What happens to scheduled payments like Direct Debits at the moment? Do bills not get paid on time?

2. Is it only banks in the South, or are the Turkish ones in the North affected as well?

No, as far as I can tell nothing gets paid and you cannot use credit or debit cards... It is a bank holiday today so hard to tell...

It is only the south affected - not the 'occupied areas' in the North of Cyprus....
