F'kin 'ell - I understand the appeal and had (use of) a clubman (1100) once - but those prices!?

[had use of until it was written off in a accident (no fault) for which we got about £50]

Fair enough - don't let me dissuade you.  Just wonder what else you can get for the money.

It seems (and I do not claim to any expert) that there are few real bargains in classics or even future classics.  I was looking to get a Mk1 MR2 a few years ago, but there are so few decent unmolested ones at the right price that I gave up.

For now.

I know Big Al, I know.
Some right ole frightenin' prices out there for even mundane stuff now. eeek:

I mean, take this Moggy I've just bought for instance!

No way is it mint...didn't want a minter regardless anyawy, but some of the vaues being asked are like 10 times what they were when new, especially travellers and vans. eeek:

Trying to find an unmolested performance classic is extremelly difficult, but I do know some of the local Toyota lads in my local dealers that I deal with, and will do a bit of sniffin' if you wish? rubschin:

Classic Essy's both mk1's and 2's are fetching monster money, even in bogo standard trim.
Eye watering prices for nice performance versions...like Twin cams for upwards of 50k!! Shocked:
Unmolested Cossy mk1's for upwards of £40k...IF you can find one. Shocked:

Some serious wedge being made by those that had the foresight to keep something very tasty under wraps many years ago.

Think I've mentioned it before in here, but there's a geezer 'round the corner from here who's got a Focus RS. Had it for 2 years nearly now, and you only ever see it when he wheels it out to wash and polish it.

Can never see the attraction in owning cars that age.  Fun to take a ride in one that someone else has sweated over, quite like to look at some of them at car shows but I will never buy a car that hasn't got ABS.

I wonder what Lotus Cortinas go for nowadays?  Bet it's a lot higher but for its time jeez what a car

Well, whatever, nevermind

Once you've had your life saved by ABS from some lunatic that tries to ram you, you won't easily give it up

Nutter just drove straight across a give way line and I just braked and steered round him with the ABS.  Didn't have time to think.  There's also a pedestrian in London that just walked out in front of me that walked away due to ABS.  Then there was that huge deer that just ran out in front of me - loads of roaming deer in Sussex, you just don't know how good a driver ABS makes you

Analog brakes = death
Well, whatever, nevermind

I know they weren't Lotus Cortinas but you mentioning them took me back to when I saw one of these "world cup" cars on the road around 1979  cloud9:

Great pics, but the black and white one gave me goosebumps just now, some REAL football stars there, sadly at least two of them no longer with us   cry:
