The Brat is begging me to put up the Christmas tree this weekend . Now considering that things have been so grim lately I am tempted but it does seem awfully early noooo:

Gives the kids 12 day run into Christmas and 12 days after the 25th until it comes down.

I reckon a week before Christmas, but The Boy relentlessly pushed it back to December 1st for some reason. WHy???

So he can mount an assault on November 1st next year...? Shrugs:

We put it up on December 6, because that is the day of Saint Nicholas "Santa Claus" because he died on that day.
rubschin:

I am called Nicholas because I was due at Christmas, but I hung on in there till Jan 2oth so I was a 10 month baby. I weighed 12 and a half pounds at birth angel1
The wimmin here can now squeal and roll about on the floor eveilgrin:

Used to have a real tree every year at the start of December... Xmas7: Kids loved it...
Not bothered since I've been divorced though. I've also told everyone that I'm not exchanging gifts this year...and I'm working Christmas Day and New Years Eve... cloud9:
-
When the children were at home would put it up 10 days or so before Christmas. Once they had left the weekend before. This year f**k knows. noooo:
-
It goes up on the 14th of December each year - the Significant Spenders birthday - or so I'm instructed.
I always liked it up on the 1st of the month since I was a kid, but now I'm married I do as I'm told... scared2:

So what were you doing in an exotic pet retailer...

We weren't. She sniffed them out near George the Mahoosive Gorilla. It's a long story noooo:

Hoorah.....happy to be your glitter consultant cloud9:
-
I leave it to the wimmin to argue about and the boys to get p*ssed off halfway through, then they slink away, muttering mutinously.
I am only "in charge" when the lights don't werk evil:
I am, of course, expected to make bright comments about how lovely it all looks. angel1
-
Oh .... I forgot, everywhere has to be vacced, dusted and polished before they can start. THW is not so keen on that bit so has sloped off to her room claiming an "essay that I've just remembered has to be in tomorrow".
SWWLTBO is not pleased. angry041:
-
Tis the morning for it .....I have just blasted the Brat for being the most disgusterous human being on the planet noooo:
-
House now passes inspection, lunch has been taken and the trees and decs therefore have been got out of the garage.
One tree is up (undecorated) in the hallway and the second is being got out of its box. They are arguing already.
Round One:
boxing THW has the weight advantage but SWWLTBO has the height and reach to inflict punishment....... I have the wife ahead on points!
The boys have scarpered!
-
boxing
Round two and already SWWLTBO has said "It's the same every bloody year.... you stand and moan and I do all the work"
This may not go the full distance Popcorn:
-
15 rounds? eeek:
-
Snoopy has two trees ! Whats next ? LED Santa and sleigh on the roof !

Round Three and the gloves are off!
fence:
Each is accusing the other of losing the base to one of the trees.

We apparently will not be having one this year. It was his job today but not a priority obviously. So our festive dinner party next week will be less than festive I'm thinking. C'est la vie or should I say guerre? rubschin:

Round Four
They have cornered the boys and taken one each to different trees. Both wimmin are nagging a boy each ...... Minimus has sped to the toilet. Looks like a tactical move by both combatants. Minor is now testing lights.
I am standing by with a screwdriver, a stash of spare bulbs and fuses. angel1
-
Round Five and SWWLTBO has re-entered the fray argue: by reminding The THW how it came about that the fairy sits on top of the tree ..... could be a telling blow as the THW did not know the joke. A lot of verbal sparring now.
So far all sets of lights have worked ... it may be safe for me to come out but I'm not going to risk it as voices are getting louder.
-
Round Six and the Referee has had words with the combatants nonono:
I am playing carols at top volume!
-
Round Seven and they have the lights on and working Xmas7:
They have moved onto GLASS ornaments and baubles Xmas3:
-
Round Eight
And her corner seem to have handed SWWLTBO a glass of malt ~ it looks like a double to me .... this may be a ploy liven matters up as her invective was flagging towards the end of the last round. eastdrink048
-
Round Nine
And SWWLTBO is really going for it now. She has informed the THW that this will be the last time the whole family are likely to be able to put up the trees together as next year it will be done whilst the THW is still at Uni and she (the THW) is ruining it.
Talk about a straight right to the jaw!
THW is now sad24: and blaming her brothers.
-
Round Ten and the THW has come out of her corner fighting. She has accused her brothers of "Looking" at her.
Minor has replied that he'll make sure he carries a polished shield in case he catches her eye again. ( A good riposte from a 12 year old ~ Doncha just lurve Home Education)
Meanwhile SWWLTBO has refilled her glass and is looking thatsit:

Round Eleven
And the THW has said she will be glad when she leaves home and doesn't have this "nonsense" to put up with. angry041:
Bad move!
SWWLTBO moved in for the K.O.
"You won't be the only one who'll be happy when you move out"
Talk about (https://www.virtual-pub.com/SMF/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsmiley-violent087.gif&hash=1ba697ec7d22e79d6881fe9ec6bffc392ccd5e3e)
The THW's corner are working on her but I can't see her coming out when the bell rings.
It's all over ... THW is heading to her dressing room. Snoopysick:
-
Our tree is now up and running. ;D
-
Snoops it would seem that all that is left for you to do is clear up the blood and tears then.
Tel I would hobble it if I were you. ;)
-
Apart from aching back from kneeling on floor to untangle the lights, all is well.
-
THW is in her room furiously texting the world to tell them how rotten her life is. The boys are in front of the fire toasting crumpets, SWWLTBO is in the kitchen and I have another G&T.
Xmas6: All is back to normal in the kennels.
Thank the Lord that's over for another year.

I look forward to your blow by blow account of Christmas Day razz:

Neither can I surrender:

It'll be over before you know it Snoops... just the packing away then like... whistle:

I knew it was too good to be true when the lights unravelled without tangling up as per the norm.
I was right, they didn't work, evil: managed to get them going after a bit of fiddling about (Vanessa Mae has nothing on me), but will be on the lookout for new ones in the Sales.

Unless you have an asthmatic wife and asthmatic child who both react badly to the resin in real trees and would spend them whole of Christmas sneezing and wheezing. taking snorts of Ventolin and generally suffering. SO YES! We use plastic trees.
