Title: And another thing: insurance
Post by: Nick on January 30, 2009, 11:32:04 AM
Why is everything turing difficult at present?  evil:

Renewed my Professional Indemnity insurance yesterday(£1 million, in case I do any damage like). I get an e mail saying that my policy is subject to a random  'Quality Check'. They are calling me shortly. I just know this is going to be a headache  Banghead Banghead Banghead

I assume you will be charging for your time by the hour or part thereof. After all you are happy with the insurance therefore it is for their benefit that such a quality check is being undertaken ~ you are entitled to charge for your services in assisting them comply with their regulations ~ or you could change your insurer  eveilgrin:

This, by the way, is my answer to all requests to take part in any survey for quality assurance, compliance etc as well as to anyone who asks me to complete any surveys, reviews of their services or customer satisfaction reports. I refuse to answer any other enquiries other than to say "Pay me for my time OR accept that, if I continue to be a customer, I must be satisfied with your goods and/or services".

Christ. That a lot of cover!

Prolly based not so much on the amount of cover but the likelyhood of having to pay out as the potential for injury is greater.
That's what underwriters do you see ~ calculate the odds.

...and what a load of bolox it is too. I've had so many heated discussions with insurance companies about how they arrive their figures, but they just say, that's it. Take it or leave it.
I suggest they just think of a figure then double it, arse wipes. cussing:

I even offered a free day out with me, all expenses paid including travel and overnight accomodation, to come out an assess just how safe it all is.
They can't do that though...apparently. Banghead

So called 'specialist' cover, so only very very very few insurance companies will even consider it, let alone quote me.

Insurance companies probably rank as number 2 in the all time 'most hated' coulmn.
We the puiblic and business's have absolutely no say whatsoever as to what we think is reasonable.
I've had many many bladder transplants because of them as a consequence. evil:

"It would be cheaper if you didn't have dual controls, and you let the kids drive the car WITHOUT supervision and on their own!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me being there increases the risk as I'm telling them what to do, whereas when they're on their own, all actions are their own and nothing to do with me, PROVIDING I gave adequate operating and safety instructions....APPARENTLY!! happy001

Actually yes I can ~ The insurance covers any accidents caused by "your negligence" ~ if you are not in the vehicle giveing instruction it stands to reason that you cannot have been negligent in the instructions you gave.

I Know ~ I know .... It is fecking stoopid but that is how they assess "risk"

I know, I know too, but it IS so ludicrous that it's beyond comprehension, it really is!

Would you or I let a child drive off in a proper car without a proper trained adult alongside?
NO. Of course you wouldn't.
