I hear that he "has the full confidence of the PM". rubschin:
So he will be gone soon then!
-
bye bye... point:
-
I'll miss ole "permatan" ~ always good for a pompous statement or two.
-
Every time a story like this comes up I can't help wondering just how many other members of the government are guilty of similar practices....
-
I imagine a good proportion of them. Ever read Private Eye?
-
Is there such a thing as an honest politician? Every day I seem to read or hear about politicians ripping off the system, every one of them should be culled. Bring back Diogenes and I will show him where to shove his lantern cussing:
-
I'd feel cheated if my MP wasn't into some sort of dodgy deal or practise
-
It would seem that no one in this country grows up wanting to be a politician for purely altruistic reasons....and there does not seem to be much difference between the politicians of this country and their counterparts on the African continent. Politically we have become a third world nation
-
Gordon Brown has given his backing to under-fire Peter Hain, but said the minister's fate is out of his hands.
‘He has my full backing unless he is found guilty in which case I’ve never seen him before in my life…’

I love this quote from today's Indy
http://news.independent.co.uk/people/pandora/article3339058.ece
Hain has 'no immediate plans' to pay Labour £16,000 he owes
By Oliver Duff
Published: 15 January 2008
The prolonged failure by Parliament's Tango amnesiac, Peter Hain, to declare £103,000 of donations, has not only riled the Electoral Commission. It has also nobbled the work of his own party.

I wish he would just get on and resign. We all know he is going to............. evil:

I'm not so sure that is the case, I just think that those of us who would want to be MP's for the right reasons have realised that we wouldnt stand a hope in hell of getting elected as we have the principles not to use questionable methods to get into office.

Hain donations 'an incompetence'
Never? ::)
-
Let us not forget that this "incompetent" has been put in charge of pensions. 48 hours?
-
'an incompetence'
I have my doubts about 'incompetence' the noun.
Would a puddle then be 'an incontinence' ?
"If ye cannae speak the language, ye cannae lead the country"

The man is a twit. And his boss says he is "incompetent". How long can he hang on for. ANd will he replace Mandelson in Brussels?

I know which one I'd buy a used car from

Neither?
-
George Cole is only an actor playing the part of a spiv. Peter Hain, on the other hand, clearly is a spiv.
-
True. Is he still alive, or have I lost a friend?

Still alive... he works for Gordon Brown...
Do keep up Nick. ::)

Given that he has 'accidentally' forgotten to declare over £100k perhaps Gordo had a hidden agenda putting him in charge of pensions.
'Accidentally' forgetting to declare a massive increase in the size of the pension that cabinet members would recieve perchance? rubschin:
-
Watched Hain ~ Tories scored a couple of blows with sarcasm but he ducked all questions about resignation.
Slippery B@st@rd.
GB is now ducking and weaving and trying to answer questions with questions and fvcking Gorbals Mick is letting him get away with it AGAIN! cussing:
-
I saw that too evil:

Hain was back on after PMQs doing the Work & Pensions debate. Still as oily sick2:

Cabinet Minister Peter Hain has resigned after the Electoral Commission announced it had referred the issue of undeclared donations to his deputy leadership campaign to the police.
He must be guilty then... whistle:

Just a thought but if Paul Murphy has taken over from Hain does that mean Wales is now subject to Murphy's Law? drumroll:
-
I don't know, is he?
Ask Mandy.

Re Hung or Hanged ~ According to Fowler's Modern English Usage ..... Hanged is the past tense of the verb To Hang. Otherwise one would normally use Hung (as in "Taken from this place and hung by the neck until etc....."). On balance and since the deed has yet to be done I think "He should be Hung" is correct. Only after someone has done us that favour could we properly say "He has been Hanged ..... and a damned good job too"
Pedants Rule OK

And now it's Alan Johnson ............... can't stand the man (as I have said before) ..... he is a total tosser.
-
So whatever happened to Hain. He has been very quiet. Do they have a special patio behind Number 10 for such folk?
-
Peter Hain is still banging on in the Welsh Press if nowhere else. This from 2 days ago.

Well he said it on the 11th but it made the papers yesterday.
