Title: The All-New PV Panels Thread
Post by: Barman on July 15, 2026, 04:32:39 PM
Bit overcast today - 28.7 kWh

47.15 kWh already today and still producing 2.3kW.

Sadly 27.63kWh has been exported to the grid for no financial reward  cry:

I've contacted Tesla multiple times about a power wall but they never reply...  ::)

We were in the clouds yesterday arvo so only 26.5 kWh...

54.68hWh yesterday  ;D

Will PM the price when I get it.  We're using a SigEn battery and they stack vertically so adding a second one is supposedly a doddle.  Advice was Tesla batteries are no better but cost ~10% more.  They're all the same LiInPo technology.

Going to be interesting to see the crossover point when you are generating more than me.  I'm guessing September 1st and you'll be well smug by December.

Just ordered a second battery, kerching  cry:.

Not just to capture some of this exported power, it seems batteries have a power in/out limit.  In our case 4.5kW which would be fine except charging the car takes 7.3kW so we can only do it 'for free' when the sun's properly shining.

Could do but they are a lot of faff and I believe there's rules and regs now esp if it can deliver 5kW+ which is what we'd need.   With a BIG battery it's almost carefree and with the right tariff we can in theory import power overnight and sell it back at twice the price during the day.

There is a local company (Mitas (https://mitasgenerators.com/index.php)) that will do a proper install with the changeover, etc. in single or three phase.

I had a quote from them for my first house but (stupidly) didn't ever get it installed.... ::)

Shame about the 803 kWh they got from us for free though  Banghead

We're definitely seeing generation diminishing and with rain the next few days we might soon be into net importing.

Mrs K is also well fed up with me checking the App to see how it's working.

I assume there's some sort of interlock so the plug pins can't go live unless they can see an earth connection and have detected a 230V 50Hz signal.  But if these things become popular the less scrupulous Far East knock off manufacturers will start selling counterfeit ones with less than robust safety.  And that's before we get to DIY bodgers, IMHO the whole concept of supplying 230V power through plug pins is just not good.

The Fire Brigades are already nervous:  https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/news/2026-news/august/brigade-issues-its-top-tips-for-londoners-using-newly-introduced-plug-in-solar-panels/

Israeli company apparently...

It is (I believe) a 'short string' inverter, optimised for multiple arrays of panels on different roofs - which is wot I have!  ;D
