To b honest he has always been a bit frail in the brain department and has been getting worse since his mum died and since his cancer diagnosis. He has a tendency to fly off the handle or shout at the smallest things. The booze does not help noooo:
He called me on Wednesday ranting and shouting about some workmen in the house next door. I suggested he had a quiet word with the owners. This gentle suggestion appears to have tipped him over the edge eeek:
I have since had a string of abusive messages saying "Our friendship is over" and one this morning informing me that his "revenge" on me will be "ruthless and calculated"! eeek:
I checked in with a mutual friend who said that he had been round to see Nod and had been shouted at and threatened with a broom handle!!
What do we think: GP or Police?

GP first I should think but they are liable to prescribe strong drugs which may make him non-functional... A friend of mine is going through a similar thing...

My psychologist pal agrees and says to call his GP (same on as me). She says it sounds like a "psychotic episode"

My mate had one... Was convinced (and described in great detail) how he was kidnapped on the motorway... Unfortunately he has been drugged-up ever since and is a shadow of his former self... cry:
-
Nod is already a shadow of his former self but also has a broom handle and a cricket bat eeek: scared2:

What drugs/ treatment is he on at the moment - could these be impacting his behaviour / moods ?
-
None. Nothing else they can do for him. That may be the problem

Shit what an awful situation(s)
But surely best to tell the police too. Who else is he issuing threats to?
Could it be dementia?

Anger with the world and everyone in it and fear I would imagine.
Poor Nod but difficult to handle for those closest to him

He had a meltdown in his bank this morning. Police attended and he is being Sectioned noooo:
Oh what a shame... But perhaps best for everyone...?
My experience is that it is extremely difficult to get people sectioned even when it is clear they are a danger to themselves and others so the incident at the bank may be a blessing in disguise...

Zackly. I suspect strong medication will be in order noooo:

Given his other health issues that might be a blessing...

Seconded but what a sad turn of events noooo:
-
Frankly, the best option at present noooo:
-
He has been set free with strong drugs and some strict orders and a bit of medical supervision. He sends me grovelling apologies

Well, good that he knows he has done wrong... rubschin:

Not entirely his fault that he went bonkers, but I am keeping my distance for a few days
