Title: U.K. National Grid Status
Post by: Barman on June 19, 2013, 03:27:34 PM
Has everybody seen this (http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/)...? Shrugs:

I've been keeping an eye on it for some time...

It shows that at the moment, out of the ~40GW of total power being consumed by the UK, all those thousands of on-shore and off-shire bird mincers are producing just 1.3GW...  noooo:

Good one

If you think those bollocks wind turbines are bad for birds you should see what they do to bats.

At 11am (5 mins ago), total load was 717MW of which all those fucking bird mincers produced just 10MW (1.3%)....  Banghead

Bet a sizeable chunk of that is air conditioners

And when will air conditioning load be highest?  Hot airless days.

I can't find the article, but I read one recently that the number of turbines in Scotland had doubled in the last few years but the  amount of power produced by wind up there had only increased by 17% over the same period.  rubschin:

And at the same time the government pulls the funding from the Hot Rocks geoethermal energy project in Cornwall after bollixing up the tariffs so their partners decided to reinvest in Europe instead.  cussing:

I'm just waiting to see if they try to pull a similar stunt with the tidal energy project down here as well.

A coincidence I don't think.

Ofgem warns danger of power shortages has increased (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23081695)
