This whole sham is pure PR and bugger all else, the politicians know that the majority of us have lost all faith in the system because there is no difference between one party of arrogant money grabbing bastards and another and so think that by looking at options to 'change' things we will all be happy complacent cash machines again.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

How come we are only given a choice of yes or no. Surely we should have a number of different voting systems on the form and we then put them in order of our preference.  rubschin:

As David Cameron is such an obviously well brought up chap you'd have thought the answers to the AV question would have been better phrased.

Yes please or No thank you ...... so much nicer, don't you think?

IF voting changed anything it would soon be made illegal.

I'd like compulsory voting with a "none of the above" option. If that option is the winner, start again, with new candidates.

The problem I see with that idea is that one so seldom knows the candidates well enough to make judgement. I personally vote on party lines not individuals and that puts me in a quandary as our local sitting MP is a nice chap, a good local MP, always readily accessible to his constituents, does much work for them, supports many local initiatives and really does put in a lot of effort so deserves support. Unfortunately he is (i) Welsh (ii) Labour AND (iii) Toes the Party Line ...... so much as I like the chap and even admire his diligence he will never get my vote.

My personal preference for a "Voting Method" would be to leave out candidates names and simply vote for the party that one feels best able to support.

I rather like the system that was once used in Dr Who and previously some book wot I read.

Every 6-12 months, everyone gets to vote (electronically, from home), basically a thumbs up or thumbs down system.

Thumbs up, leader is left in office, with all the pleasures they desire.

Thumbs down, leader is electrocuted and a new candidate is found.

Nice easy incentive system.
